ISLAND

A painting is an island, its own intimate special world, and escape from reality, fashioned by remnants of reality.  The space I create in a painting becomes a bubble.  It is small enough to contain my thoughts, but large enough to let them wander and percolate on their own accord.  Instead of admiring my world from afar, I want my viewer to become empathetic with the work I create.  The work which I have created for ISLAND  are paintings about making.  Each object attempts to document the purpose of making through the collection of material artifacts into assemblages which  encompass inspiration, process, and product. Work created during 2014 residency at Molzberger Academy in Hilmsen, Germany.
